PO David Bourne RAFVR
Can anyone tell me when this young poet joined 43 Squadron? I believe it was in 1941. He was killed on 5 September of that year.
Also any details of his training in 1940-1942. regards Keith |

He was with 56 OTU in May, 258 Squadron from June 15th and joined 43 Squadron late June of early July.

Re: PO David Bourne RAFVR
Many thanks, John. He came up in the very good social history book "War like a wasp", like the other embryo poets James Farrar (68 Sqn), David Raikes (18 Sqn), Keith Footit (77 Sqn). He claimed a shared kill with Tommy Dalton-Morgan in late July. all died in the war, Raikes just ten days before the end.
regards Keith |
