Avatars
How do I shut off the avatars on my monitor? When I have a cat waving its paw at me, I want it gone!!

Re: Avatars
Sorry Richard, I don't think their is any way on the user side to switch avatars off, but I'll look into the issue, perhaps it can be controlled through styles?
However I thought the little red cat looked hilarious and even made a comment in that direction. Sure it first came a little as a shock, but I'd rather have a waving cat than trolls messing around with people's time and effort. If this means that the forum is less professional or even childish, what can I say? To catch attention as an admin, I use a pin up, I really think it works too! From a community point of view you could always start a poll, any significant return will certainly be influential on the format chosen. Personally I am itching to start on a new set of web pages.

Re: Avatars
Sometimes Ruy Horta just needs to RTFM, or as they say in dutch look further than the length of his nose (which is considerable, judged by his Latin background).
The answer is here my friend. Okay, read carefully (since it has been hinted before). These are the steps to switch off a number of features that some regard as nice to haves, while others can't stand them. User CP \ Edit options \ Thread Display Options \ Visible Post Elements Show Signatures Show Avatars Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code) Enjoy! PS. didn't I write that most tweaks can be found in the User CP? |

Ja, ja, ja...bla, bla, bla...
There is always someone who thinks he's smarter, well I cannot ban the Admin for being a Troll, so I might as well say that he's right...this time.

Re: Avatars
Dear admin,
Thanks for the tip. Yes, that worked and I now have more room to see the actual message. Any tips for getting print-outs most efficiently? Regards, Richard |

Re: Avatars
Richard,
The admin went back to his cave, but fortunately I can answer this one myself. On top of each thread there is a kind of task bar. Thread Tools \ Show Printable Version As a result you'll get a cleaned up version of the forum page. Similar results can be achived through the Archive option, see menu on the lower right of your forum page. Regards,

Re: Avatars
Dear Ruy,
Thanks for the guidance on printing. For this thread, using the thread tools option cut down the number of pages from 5 to 3. Using the archive option gave smaller point text, cutting the number of pages to 2. Good to know. I just compared them with the old format print-out. The thread tool option uses a slightly larger point text, whereas the archive option uses a slightly smaller point text. Is there any way to adjust them to match the old print-out point count? Besides the smaller text, the archive option condenses the thread tree from 3 lines to 1 by utilizing successive ">'s" and eliminates the 12 O'Clock High! avatar, allowing for greater space utilization for the text. The text space can be even further enhanced by adjustment of the margins. Regards, Richard Last edited by Richard T. Eger; 19th June 2005 at 05:35. |
