Kracker is not 100% trustworthy. I'd say 70%...

Re: Hpt.Fritz Söthe 3./NJG4 on 14/10/43
I will personally rather believe Mr Boiten, as his book is far more recent and he has far more sources at his disposal.
To have worked at the time with Mr Tony Wood to update a small part of its files, all he had at the time was the microfilms listing victories, often without the first names of the pilots and with not complete coordinates of the victory, but only the last digits. By completing this from available sources (then mostly books by Mr Prien and co) and educated guesses, he provides a map location. There were also all the cases where the microfilm was hard or almost impossible to read. As Mr Boiten is active here, the best will be to ask him directly what is his source for the location near Revigny. |

Re: Hpt.Fritz Söthe 3./NJG4 on 14/10/43
Hello all -the locations that I transcribed during the research of the NCA series stem directly from the OKL/RLM Abschuss microfilms, which I had digitised for my research project -this made them far better to read in many instances.

Re: Hpt.Fritz Söthe 3./NJG4 on 14/10/43
Hello Theo
Thanks for confirming what I fought. Additional info (unpretentious on my part) His potential "victim",not to be 42-30457 "Jimmy Boy",he crashed at "Perry-les-Gombries" (oise department:160 Km from Révigny) His fall corresponds with the claim of Hans Santler (Stab I/JG2) "Sud Compiègne" :28 Km of Compiègne. If his claim had been approved,42-3216 "The Joker" is (right) one of the possibilities:crashed at Rambluzin,30 Km from Nord Révigny. The other possibility is 42-31058 "The Patches" 384°BG crashed at "Nubécourt":20Km from Nord Révigny" Note that these correspond to the claims of: Erich Hohagen=B-17 S.W.Verdun Karl Bielohawek=B-17 S.W.Verdun Friedrich May=B-17 S.W.Verdun Best Regards Michel |

Re: Hpt.Fritz Söthe 3./NJG4 on 14/10/43
located west of Revigny/Ornain,that's why I don't count it for a possible victim of Söthe.... but victim of JG2.
I did not identify the potential "winner" of: B-17 serial 42-29867 (384°BG) "Buchy" 18km S.E.Metz B-17 serial 42-29870 (384°BG) 22 km O.Nancy Michel |

Re: Hpt.Fritz Söthe 3./NJG4 on 14/10/43
Thanks for sharing your interesting comments Michel. I have re-checked the losses on 14 October 1943 though and found no loss of 42-31058; this a/c was lost on 28 February 1944:
