Hello Rick,

Gen.Qu. loss return 22 June 1940 item 18:
14.6. 4.(F)/11 Feindflug Ort: Südfrankreich, Ursache: unbekannt, Do 17 100% 3 Vermisste.
Correction from 5 Nov 1940: Besatzung gefallen (3 Tote).

On 17 June 2012 Peter Cornwell has posted:
14 June 1940: 4.(F)/11 Dornier Do17P-1. Failed to return from reconnaissance sortie and crashed near Lafauche, 20 miles south-west of Neufchâteau. FF Fw Gottfried Egl, BO Fw Kurt Schmidt, and BF Fw Hans Hummenberger all killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

Regards
Leo

Leo, I'm familiar with the abbreviations FF, BS, BM and BF, but what is a BO?
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,

the abbreviations B and BO/Bo for Beobachter/Observer are common. In the Gen.Qu. loss returns B is customary.
