Information concerning loss of Ltn. Alois Preisinger - Nachtjager - 05.11.1943

Hi,

Can anyone provide details of the loss of Ltn. Alois Preisinger who was killed on the night of the 5th November 1943? He was a Nachtjager.

Please see his sterbebild below for further details.

Thanks as always

Rick

1943-11-05, 7./NJG 200, Ju 88C-6, 720074, 1 km südlich Seibolsdorf, Neuburg/Donau, Absturz infolge Bedienungsfehler. Bruch 100 %.
Flugzeugführer Lt Preisinger, Alois, +
Bordfunker Fw Büttner, Wilhelm, +
Bordmechaniker Flg Schwingenschlögl, Ferdinand, +
GQM gives 720014, but it seems to be outside any known WNr.-block.

This may not be important but I note that the WNr. 720074 was carried by a Bf 110G-4. NJG 200 certainly had Bf 110Gs, but I am not sure about 7./NJG200. Could this perhaps have been a Bf110 which was incorrectly listed as a Ju88C-6 simply on the basis that most other aircraft in this staffel were Ju 88C-6s?

I don't have any other details on the Bf110 720074.

I still believe, that Ju 88C-6, WNr. 720074 is correct. It is from NVM and therefore more reliable than GQM info. Also Bf 110G-4, WNr. 720074 of 3./NJG 3 was destroyed 1944-04-27 and Bf 110G-4, WNr. 720014 of 5./NJG 102 was destroyed 1944-07-19.

Thanks Matti for ruling out the Bf110, it was hopefully useful to remove this an explanation for the curious WNr.

Re: Information concerning loss of Ltn. Alois Preisinger - Nachtjager - 05.11.1943

This is not a particularly curious W.Nr. for a Ju 88C-6. The 720xxx block was correct for a small group of Nachbau Ju 88 C-6s assembled in late 1943. This block was the only group of Ju 88 fighters not assembled by JFM FZB (Bernburg) or one of its dispersal sites.

Re: Information concerning loss of Ltn. Alois Preisinger - Nachtjager - 05.11.1943

Based on Verlustmeldungen, it seems, that at least the following Ju 88C-6 aircraft were in 720xxx block:
720074 - 720120
720321 - 720326.
Therefore I suggested, that 720014 from GQM cannot be correct and 720074 from NVM is correct.

I did not have my spreadsheet available when I posted yesterday. Now have access and there are two other entries for W.Nr.720014, so I believe it is valid. I have also cross-checked the number of entries for this block (720xxx) against the Monatsmeldung totals and they balance out pretty well.

Best Regards,

Artie Bob
