Information concering loss of Leutnant August Steinmeier - killer 24.11.39

Hi,

Just acquired two nice portraits of a flier.

He is a Leutnant and pilot.

On the reverse of the photos is the script - August Steinmeier +24.11.39

I have looked to see if he is mentioned on the forum but his name does not appear.

Can anyone help identify this pilot?

He was involved in a mid-air with another Arado Ar 68. JFS Werneuchen, Wnr. 1797.
Other Ar 68 was Wnr. 2001 with Gefr. Meinhardt Kauffmann, also killed.
All this at Biesenthal, some 19 kms north of Werneuchen.

Could it be 29 Nov 1939?

Hi Leendert,

Thank you for your information - I think you are right about the 29th too.

The portrait shows him wearing his pilot's badge so he must have been specialising in training I presume.
