Question regarding blue Ju88T-1 "4U+QK"
"Der Adler mit dem Fernrohr", Rabeder, Ommert, Schlee, p.240, has two photos of the plane. It is described as "new, standard camouflage removed by Staffel ground personell, rivets puttied, repainted in dark blue, all codes and national markings in black only". (The Staffel emblem and a light lightning symbol below the canopy are the only touch of color.)
In the photos I can not discern a color separation line between upper and lower camouflage colors; the auxiliary tank carried on the wing rack however is definitely painted in dark upper, light lower color. Was the plane painted blue over all? Is it my eyes, or the poor quality of the photo, that make a light color an the lower surfaces disappear? Or were the light lower surfaces toned down in black? (The color side view of "4U+QK" on the same page has light (RLM 65? my guess, no color specification is given) lower surfaces.
TIA, Richard
