Re: P-47 crash near Mons Belgium 14 jan 1944
Alain,
Only MACR (# 1967) for a P-47 on 14 Jan 44 is 42-8694 of 356 FG/359 FS with pilot Lt Robert B. Conroy (POW). Summary of MACR on footnote.com gives 2 miles West of Arras, some 100 km west of Mons. Perhaps someone who can read the fine print on footnote.com can add details if the Luftwaffe claim at Mons has anything to do with the loss at Arras. Groet, Leendert |

Re: P-47 crash near Mons Belgium 14 jan 1944
Good evening Alain !
In the collection of the LGK-reports, only one THUNDERBOLT is listed for this day. The location is described: Fresnicourt, 4,5 miles south of Hesdin. The reference for the entry is: AV 812/44. Unfortunately no time or any other number/markings of the a/c for this incident in that collection available. All the best ! Horst Weber |
