Re: Two searchless German bombers 4.Apr.1943
Hello Stig,
as I wrote earlier, both claims are absent in the Nord-Caucasian Front operative report so probably both claims were not confirmed officially. Looks like the AA personnel has reported about wrecks of the planes crashed several weeks or months before. Cheers, Andrey |

Re: Two searchless German bombers 4.Apr.1943
OK Andrey
So the date you state is simply the date of the Soviet report and not a date when any AA-fire took place. That explains it. With regard to the unit code, and contemplating a rather wrinkled/destroyed fuselage, could 5-IKF (or 5-IFK) be interpreted as 5J+KS or 5J+FS? A hesitant...maybe?... Cheers Stig |

Re: Two searchless German bombers 4.Apr.1943
The 10-Feb-43 loss for He 111H-16 WNr. 8185 also reports the loss as 60% damaged, so either it's not the machine in question or perhaps was abandoned as the Soviets moved their lines forward??
