T-33 belly-landing in 2011 close to Bitburg AFB

Good evening !

During the days May 28/29 2011 was on the old Bitburg USAF airbase an AirExpo exibition with many commercial a/c.

In the afternoon of May 29th, a T-33 aircraft with the civil-registration N123GB received a malfunction during the flight and the crew had to belly into a field just outside the fence of the airfield. Noone was hurt.

Can anyone provide me with the USAF-serial-number of this aircraft ?.

Thank you very much !

Horst

I assume you mean N132GB and just mixed the digits a little bit?

It was T-33A c/n 9712 with previous IDs as follows
53-6091 USAF
N11989 Lewis College, Lockport IL 1972/77
N8077X (1 Gerald N. Butterworth/ Rhode Island Aircraft,
West Kingston RI 5.88
N32GB Gerald N. Butterworth, West Kingston RI 8.89/92
(flew as "USAF 36091 My Sensuous Mistress")
Cloud Dancer Flying Club, Winter Haven FL 4.9.92/98
(del. US to Denmark via Keflavik 22.8.98)
OY-RUT Jesper Rungholm/ Danish Air Transport,
Vamdrop: reg. ntu 31.1.00/09
(based Denmark 98-10, flew in RDAF paint scheme
“Danish Air Transport” as OY-RUT then N132GB)
N132GB (1 Gerald N. Butterworth/ Cloud Dancer Flying Club,
Bartow FL 23.8.00/16
(based Hahn, Germany 10-11, Luftwaffe markings)
forced landing in field near Bitburg AFB Germany 28.5.11
op: Fliegendes Museum Mendig, Mendig Germany .12
(based Florida 15, USAF camouflage)
N132GB reg expired 31.1.16, struck-off USCR 28.2.18

Details copied from Geoff Goodall's excellent site!!

The only difference I can se is that he has the date reported as 28/5 and not 29/5...

Cheers
Stig

Jig !

Thank you very much for the information. But according to a number of sources (police, firefighters, newspaper e.g.), which are still present in the net, the incident took place Sunday, May 29th, 2011 at about 13:15 hrs.

Thanks and good wishes.
