Bf 109 wreck identification code
Hi Guys
Last week this pic was on Ebay. Does anybody know the meaning of the identification code? As far as I know the "Doppelwinkel" means Gruppenkommandeur, but what does the black 4 mean? I can't find anything about this, maybe I've got the wrong books or I'm just dim at the moment. Thanks for your help. Regards Harry |

Re: Bf 109 wreck identification code
Michael,
According to Franck Benoîton and George Morrison, this might be a Bf 109 G-4 of 2./Aufkl.Gr. 14, either in Tunisia or Sicily. Check the ongoing discussion here: www.facebook.com/groups/1528571170740726/ Cheers Marc |

Re: Bf 109 wreck identification code
Or 4.(H)/12 ... that I do prefer; that's the best I can do...
But any suggestion or knowledge is welcome. BR, Franck. |
