Abbreviation in newspaper report

I'm looking at a German war report and the credit is "von unserem WK-Luftwaffencorrespondenten". So what does the "WK-" stand for — Weltkrieg (World War) or something else entirely?

Hardly the most important aspect of the article but I'd still like to know!

Re: Abbreviation in newspaper report

I have seen 'WK' used in German Foreign Ministry papers (in German) as an abbreviation for Weltkrieg.

Re: Abbreviation in newspaper report

Source: German Military Abbreviations of 12 April 1943

WK; Wehrkreiskommando; military district headquarter(s)
W.Kdo; Wehrkreiskommando; military district headquarter(s)
W.Kdr; Wehrkreiskommandeur; military district commander
WKK; Wehrkreiskommando; military district headquarter(s)

also:

W; Wehrkreis; military district
W; Wehrkreiskommando; military district headquarter(s) (with Roman numerals, insignia on shoulder straps)

There are some other WK (and W only) abbreviations, which are not pertinent to the query WK-LuftwaffenKorrespondenten.

Regards,
Sinisa

Wehrkreis sounds good, but what is about an abbreviation of a local newspaper ?.

The lead article on the front page. A slightly shorter version of the same article appears (for example) in a Leipzig paper but without a byline.
