Crash during a training flight (Nightfighter)
Found a place of crash about 20 miles north of Augsburg. Based on recollections of some eye witnesses I received the following information.
2 planes had a mid air collision during a training flight and crashed north of Augsburg. In each plane there were 2 flyers. One pilot was killed. 3 flyers survived because bailed out. Date is not clear. Could be in spring 1944 or late 1944 or spring 45. They definitey crashed during daylight. Found some relics at one place of crash, e.g. parts of 2 different Revi's etc. So it is definitely a double seater. I belive the planes/crews belonged to a trainin unit / Lehrgeschwader or Ausbildungsgeschwader but not sure. Does anybody knows more? Any idea where tosearch? Does anybody have the losses of the trainings unit of NJG 6? Perhaps you can have a look. Thanks in advance Rolf I |
