Feldpostnummer L.15955
Dear all,
I am looking for the unit which used Fp.Nr. L.15955 after July 1942. Kannapin's Feldpostübersicht says that the 2nd Gebirgs Sanitäts Kompanie 68 used this Fp.Nr. up to 14 July 1942 but gives no further info. As a soldier of Fp.Nr. L.15955 was hospitalized in Venlo on 18 December 1942, I presume that the (still unknown) unit was stationed in the Venlo region. Any info is much appreciated ! Best regards, Marcel

Re: Feldpostnummer L.15955
I can not find anything for that FpNr beyond 2.Gebirgs-Sanitäts-Kompanie 68 which had that number from between January & July 1942 and onwards.
It couldn't possibly be 15956 could it? That entry is for Luftwaffen-Sanitäts-Bereitschaft 2/VI which would fit with the 'L' prefix. Also 15965 equates to another Luftwaffe unit, 3. Batterie Flakscheinwerfer-Abteilung 260 (v). However that unit was based in Russia - unless he was injured and processed through the medical system to find himself in a Lazarett in Venlo.

Re: Feldpostnummer L.15955
Dear Hucks216,
Thank you for your thoughts, most appreciated! The thought that someone made a type error has crossed my mind, but these lists of hospitalized Germans in our local town hospital, are all handwritten. Therefore a typo seems less likely. We keep searching Best regards, Marcel

Re: Feldpostnummer L.15955
Is it possible to see an image of the written FpNr for the entry? It isn't uncommon for medical personnel to put down the wrong unit information - it is fairly common to see such things on Wound Badge citations where the medical admin have put a wrong unit designation just because they are unused to that units order of battle etc.
The first unit for the alternatives I posted (Luftwaffen-Sanitäts-Bereitschaft 2/VI) belonged to Luftgau VI which might have had responsibility for the area including Venlo - see this link with the territory covered. Hopefully someone with better knowledge of the Luftgau organisation will be able to clarify. http://www.ww2.dk/ground/hq/lgvi.htm
