Blohm und Voss Ha 137 B-0

Hello All,

I have just purchased Manfred Griehl's Blohm und Voss Flugzeuge seit 1933. I was interested to note that both A-0 and B-0 variants of the Ha 137 were built in small numbers as this is not mentioned in the earlier works I own.

There are a number of photos of the Ha 137 B-0 in what appear to be war time markings including WNr 196 which appears to show a partial Stammkennzeichen.

My question is are any of the units operating 0 series aircraft known and also any complete Stammkennzeichen?

Thanks,

Clint

Re: Blohm und Voss Ha 137 B-0

Hi Clint

Two questions
Is the book rich in WNr?
Are you sure about WNr 196?
Reason I ask is that I have Ha 137 up to WNr 194 and that's it...

Cheers
Stig

Re: Blohm und Voss Ha 137 B-0

Hello Stig

Yes the book has most if not all Wnr blocks, so if your tempted to buy I would recommend it.For the Ha 137 B-0 last WNr given is 199.Civil Reg D-ITMY. Wnr/ D- Code/Stkz given for most Blohm und Voss aircraft.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Blohm und Voss Ha 137 B-0

In the RLM Aircraft development programmes dated 01.10.1936 and 01.04.1937, the following information is given about the Ha 137 light dive bomber:
V-1 W.Nr. 107 engine: 1 x BMW 132. First flight in January 1935.
V-2 W.Nr. 108 engine: 1 x BMW 132. First flight in May 1935.
V-3 W.Nr. 109 engine: 1 x RR Kestrel. First flight in June 1935.
V-4 W.Nr. 183 engine: 1 x Jumo 210. First flight in November 1935.
It is said that all testing were cancelled as these aircraft would not be procured by the RLM. However, completed aircraft would be used as test beds for various equipment.
A series of 7 Ha 137A-0 with 1 x BMW 132 engines and reserved W.Nr. 184 - 190 were planned, as well as a series of 9 Ha 137B-0 with Jumo 210 engines and reserved W.Nr. 191 - 199 were also planned. How many that was acutally built, this source do not tell.

Re: Blohm und Voss Ha 137 B-0

Hello Both,

Griehl has the Ha 137 A-0 with BMW 132 as you mention The development of the BMW 132 being broken off in late Summer 1936.

These machines as you state take the WNr to 190, although it appears that the last of these was rebuilt as a Ha 137 B-0. The remaining Ha 137 B-0 then complete the WNr to WNr 199 equipped with Jumo 210C as mentioned in Seaplanes post.

Fist flight dates are given for all aircraft so it seems all were completed.

Regards,

Clint
