A Do 17 P lost on 6 or 7.09.19 near Nałączów?
6 or 7 September 1939 was shot down near Nałęczów/Poland by ppor. Włodzimierz Klawe of IV/1 Dyon an aircraft "Do 17"?
The victim fell to the ground. Several witnesses from the ground confirms it shot down. One airman was taken prisoner. It is possible, that the plane was Do 17 P from the 1.(F)/124 or other long-distance reconnaissance unit? Can anyone confirm this loss? regards, mw

Yes, but you may check it in Łukasz Łydżba book about IV/ Dyon p. 185.

Re: A Do 17 P lost on 6 or 7.09.19 near Nałączów?
Mirek,
I`m aware of Lukasz`s finding (he found only 1 witness). I managed to find an account of man, who was at this time in Naleczow but he did not see any crash of German aircraft on 6.9.39. 7.9.39 is not possible because the fighters were flown out from area of Warsaw in the evening of 6.9.39. Klawe`s claim was logged in the area of Gora Kalwaria (this is second incompatibility). Regards Robert |

Re: A Do 17 P lost on 6 or 7.09.19 near Nałączów?
Robert, strange because there are two of them, given on this page.
I think you read this book like me. Next, from Góra Kalwaria to Nałęczów is a "not big" distance (about 115 km in air, on the roads will be 121-129 km, depends of ways) this is fact. In this accounts given by Łukasz I do not see any false information. A plane had crashed, somewhere near Nałęczów It is interesting, who next might be a next winner in this duel, if not a Klawe. Do you have any idea? I think the plane (could be reccon Do 17?) was shot down indeed. mw

There is one more option, a pair of ppor. W. Miksa + ppor. Z. Wróblewski 114. EM/ IV/1 Dyon, near Błonie, a Do 17F/P of 3.(F)/121 (?), as Emmrling think?

Luftwaffe Qm's returns does show a Do17 F of 1(F)/124 lost on the 7th unfortunately the reports are hard to read but the location appears to be bei Opecnow with 3 dead. Other units show on the 6th the loss of a Do17 at Pitschen and another at Kalisch and on the 7th one at Kaschen. As I say the locations are smudged but are the best I can make out,

Great Thanks, Brian for this tip,
PS I think it would be right in Polish - near/over Opoczno (such town still exists) not "Opecnow". From Lublin to Opoczno is about 175 km, possible distance. mw

Hello.
M. Emmerling gives this total loss as probably shot down by AA fire. It was Do 17F-1, WNr. 931, with crew FF Fw. Karl Lauxmann, BO Uffz. Claus Fromm and BF Uffz. Johann Eckl. It crashed 2 km south of Opoczno. Source: Jet & Prop 3/13, pages 18-24 Best regards, Gunnar - Bf 110 -

Thanks
Opoczno would be too far away, because ground witness were in Nałęczów. mw
