Information concerning loss of Feldwebel Josef Koppel

Hi,

Can anyone please provide details of the unit, aircraft and loss of Feldwebel Josef Koppel who was killed in an air battle over France. I have no date of his loss so know this might prove more difficult to resolve.

Thanks in anticipation

Rick

Post Re: Information concerning loss of Feldwebel Josef Koppel

hello rick,

the name on the memorial card is "köppel" or as alternative spelling "koeppel"!?
and the feldwebel received the spanish cross, so he must have been a member of the condor legion ...

maybe it helps a little with the research?

I'm afraid I can't serve with a database hit!?

kind regards
ghost

Re: Information concerning loss of Feldwebel Josef Koppel

Peter Cornwall's book 'The Battle of France 'page 317 has a Fw Koppel J. KIA over France 18-5-1940 which would have made him the right age to serve in the Condor Legion . Might be this airman I have no more info. though ,
