Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Hello everyone,
I am perplexed by He 111 H-16, WNr. 8209.
If our LEMB Stammkennzeichen list is correct, its code was probably NN+BV and not the TS+WE or F as shown. Could these aberrant markings be another example of a Technische Schule marking like the Bf 109s marked TS+MB at Schleißheim?
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

Re: eBAy: Captured german planes

Ju 88 G-6 W.Nr. 621 892

Fw 190 F-8 W.Nr. 588 318 "Weisse 40"
http://www.ww2online.org/image/ameri...e-1944-or-1945

Both planes are in the same location, given the window pattern of the hangar in the background. Any idea about the location ?

Cheers
Marc

Actually two Ju 290 A-1 (never dot, dude) ended up in or near airfields in Afrika. Some of your other seen pictures can be of either. And J4+AH was indeed attacked by USAAF Kittyhawks and claimed destroyed by catching fire. But it was simply scrapped, and had tail detached. Pictures show that process. US soldiiers standing on its floor, first I thougt is was a cargo ship, it was so huge. But nose was burned off, after crash. Other had Stkz. SB+QB and was set on fire. Pictures of it were seen here (in this thread) recently.

Steve, do not let this old site bring you down. Generally speaking (not commenting on this case). Lots and lots of errors. Even the errors are sometimes wrong (plus many references are wrongly attributed). Many of these Stkz. come from logbooks, and as many know, they are known for contain writing errors besides bad hand-writing (sutterlin etc. etc.) and bad copying or copys of copys make matters worse. Even bad photos are qouted. Yes, Now I have said this.

Many many thanks, Steve, for the location; this issue was nagging me as I had already seen the FW 190, without knowing where....

Sincerely
Marc
