Exclamation Nightfighter losses on 14/15/0/1944 over Belgium

Hello ,

On page 110 from the Nagjagd War Diaries Volum two Mr Boiten wrote , Two other twin engined nachtjagd aircraft were reportedly shot down in air combat over Belgium ( a Me-110 off 3./NJG3 near St-Nicolas and a Ju-88 of 3./NJG4 near Philipville )
Does someone has more info on the losses ?

Re: Nightfighter losses on 14/15/0/1944 over Belgium

Hello Alain57,

This is what I found in M.Balss book 'Deutsche Nachtjagd, personalverluste':
3./NJG 3:
Lt. Wolf Gütter vw-FSA
Fw. Alfred Lopatta vw-FSA
Uffz. Josef Wopperer vw-FSA
(110G-4)(Werknr.: 47145)
Absturz nach Luftkampf, 5 km nördl. Coewacht nordwestl. St.Nikolas (or St.Niklaas in flemish).

3./NJG 4:
Uffz. Herbert Holze +
? uvl-FSA
? uvl-FSA
(88G-1)(Werknr.: 712336)
Absturz nach Luftkampf, Hemptinne ca 6 km northeast Philippeville.

Hope this helps.
Kind Regards,

Dirk

Alain,
in fact the date was as far as I know 14th Jul 1944 and the first a/c came down more or less intact in farmland in The Netherlands. You will find some details on the www.wingstovictory.nl site under "database" and the date of 14 jul 1944. The location indeed was North of Koewacht and NW of Sint Niklaas.
Or.... 2-3 Km East of Axel, along the canal Axel-Hulst.
It seems that the a/c was recovered shortly after.I have not been able to find its registration number.
regards
Sealander

Hello Alain,

The second one was damaged at 80%, probably attempting to land at Florennes?

Best regards.
