Luftwaffe losses against convoy RA-62
On 12 Dec 44 the KG 26 had flown a torpedo attack against the Arctic convoy RA-62, loosing two aircraft in the attack.
One of them was Ju 88A-17 1H+HK of 2./KG 26, commanded by Oblt. Willi Grigat. The crew was taken POW by the frigate HMCS Monnow. The other Ju 88 aircraft lost that day was observed to go down in flames near the convoy ships, exploding on impact. No survivors were seen or picked up. Much to my regret I have not been able to establish the identity of this aircraft and its crew. Does anybody know more on this incident? As I am new to this forum and normally do some research work on U-boats, I would welcome any help from members of this forum. Regards Axel |
