Question about context of the word "mässig"

Greetings,

I am struggling to find a correct contextual translation of the German adjective "mässig," as used by the Luftwaffe Nachrichtendienst in relation to methods of detection and tracking of enemy air incursions (i.e. Fu.M.B. (signals intercept by passive receivers), Laubfrosch (intercept of H2S transmissions), Flugmelde (Aircraft Reporting Service radars)

Here are some examples:

"Fu.M.B. mässig wurde Verband nur als schwacher Verband schneller Kampfflugzeuge angesprochen" [Fu.M.B. mässig was only addressed as a weak formation of fast bomber aircraft]

"Flugwegverfolgung Fu.M.B.-mässig und Flugmeldemässig ohne Besonderheit." [ Fu.M.B.-mässig and flight reporting-mässig route tracking without special features.]

"Ein Mosquitoverband, über See laubfroschmässig erfasst." [A Mosquito formation, detected over the sea by laubfroschmässig (H2S transmissions).]

"H-mässige Erfassung im Raum Charleroi."
[H-mässige (I don't know what this refers to) detection in the Charleroi area.]

Can anyone provide a contextual translation?

TIA

Rod

Re: Question about context of the word "mässig"

In this case it looks like it’s “by means of” and the H- could be Horch- (signals monitoring).

Normally I thought -mässig was “according to” as in planmässig for “according to plan”. I could easily be wrong!

Re: Question about context of the word "mässig"

Hi

An enemy unit was pursued in different ways and by different units.
There were visual observations, radio detections, radio measurement observations (= Radar) and of course also observations by anti-aircraft guns, fighters, etc.
In this case, the report refers exclusively (Fu.-M.B.) to radar observations, without including the other sources of observation. This is what the word "mässig" means.

best wishes

Thank you Nick and JoMe for your replies.

'Observation' makes sense in this context.

Re: Question about context of the word "mässig"

-mäßig is the correct writing. A bit strange sounding translation is ....-wise.
Better: according to.....

As I understand it, FuMB (Funkmeßbeobachtung) means detecting the transmissions of the enemy's radar. See for example the passive warning receivers carried by U-boats: FuMB-1 Metox and FuMB-10 Wanze.
