Exclamation Soviet Fuel Supply in late summer 1942

In a Bergstom-book, it is said that some fighter aviation regiments in teh central zone were grounded because they had no fuel left. This again was caused by the german blockade of the Volga near Stalingrad. This sounds like the Red Army maybe was on the edge of a demotorization then...

Who can shed more light on this very interesting topic?

Hi,

This refers rather to January-February 1943, with almost all supply storages being exhausted and results of Caucasian and Stalingrad campaigns coming up.

The fuel was the mayor problem during the whole war. First of all it mirrored in shortages for the flying schools and trainig units. Over the war the schools received only 56% of requested fuel

I am pretty sure that it was about summer 1942, when JG51 had to cope in support of Heeresgruppe Mitte against the soviet ofensives (near Rshev?).

But currently, I cannot relocate the passage from the book...
