Fw 190 A-5 W.Nr 150xxx

Hello Robert

Apparently, the 0150 811 – 0150 959 series was built by Focke-Wulf at Sorau between November 1942 and April 1943. The 0150 1040 – 0150 1488 series was built by Focke-Wulf at Marienburg between January 1943 and August 1943. Focke Wulf Jagdflugzeug by Rodeike states that about 149 were built in the first batch and about 712 in the second batch out of some 1,752 examples but another source that I have seen states that only 625 Fw 190 A-5 subtypes were built in total so these figures might be badly in error. I hope this helps somewhat.

Horrido!

Leo

Re: FW-190A-5 W.Nr 150xxx

Robert

Out of curiosity, what is your source for WNr 0150050 to 0150585 since none of mine mention that batch?

Also the batches 0150811 to 0150959, 01501040 to 01501751 were cut short since they were given other WNr.
0150925 to 0150959 became 180925 to 180959 while 01501488 to 01501751 became 141488 to 141751. The last batch actually being built as G-2.

WNr 0150811 is a bit of a puzzle. While Rodeike claims it was the first A-5 built, Smith/Creek say it was a B-1 and actually built with WNr 811. For some reason Smith/Creek only list the last digits in all batches, so it is not possible to say if they want it under 0140811 or 0150811.

Cheers
Stig

Re: FW-190A-5 W.Nr 150xxx

Hi Stig.

Thanks for the help. I quickly rechecked and 150585 was an error. But in Luftwaffe Crash Archive for 1943 there are FW-190A-5/U8s between 150050 and 150237.
Also curious about 141488/141751, because never heard about these numbers,
but surely FW-190A-5/U8s. From what I know A-5/U8 were renamed to G-2 from Jan 1944.

Regards
Robert

Re: FW-190A-5 W.Nr 150xxx

Sorry Robert

Can't help you any further. Most production lists I have seen differ somewhat, but none I have used so far makes any mentioning of a batch 150050-150237.

There are other A-5 oddities such as aircraft in what seems to be an 151xxx range as well. Can't identify them either. See your own 151xxx range above.

No idea if the G-2s actually received new plates or not, but one source says the re-designation was in October 1943.

If Andrew Arthy or Gerhard Stemmer read this, I would like to see them take a stab at this.... . Anyone else would also be welcome of course.

Cheers
Stig
