Re: Ju88 losses 13.8.40 6/KG54

I have 6./KG54 losses on August 13, 1940, currently documented thus:

6./KG54 Junkers Ju88A-1. Badly damaged by fighters over Odiham during sortie to Farnborough and believed crashed on return. FF Oberlt Franz-Friedrich Fredebeul and BS Gefr Hans Berger both killed, BO Gefr Johann Mandlmeier badly wounded - admitted to hospital in Evreux where died same day, BF Uffz Matthias Trampert slightly wounded - admitted to hospital in Evreux. Aircraft 100% write-off.

6./KG54 Junkers Ju88A. Attacked by Hurricanes of Nos. 43 and 601 Squadrons during sortie to Farnborough and both engines started to fail 7.00 a.m. Crew ordered to abandon aircraft but brought back under control and subsequently returned to base. FF Lt [ ] Siescher, BO Gefr [ ] Handelmeier and BF Obergefr [ ] Hosport all unhurt, BS Gefr Georg Niessl baled out over Tangmere and captured unhurt. Aircraft B3+TP under 10% damaged - repairable.

6./KG54 Junkers Ju88A. Engaged by fighters over Odiham during sortie to Farnborough and believed crashed in the Channel. BF Obergefr Ernst Sprung killed, BO Uffz Hans-Robert Nünninghoff missing, FF Oberlt [ ] Schmidt and rest of crew believed rescued unhurt. Aircraft 100% write-off.
The body of Ernst Sprung came ashore on the French coast on September 11.

Hello Peter how are you, trust your well?

Many thanks indeed for the information on KG54 losses, its most helpful.
I had some detail from Radtke's book but not as conclusive as yours!

Kindest regs,
Steve.
