Re: Another new (?) emblem

Ed,

very interesting. Never seen this unit badge either but points to a Bü 181 (?) in courier/liaison service.
Someone else on the board possibly knows more.

Re: Another new (?) emblem

Hi Norbert,
It is a He111H or P and not a Bü 181. I don't know what unit it is though.
It might even be from this He111 from the same collection/album on offer. There is a partly hidden emblem behind the prop blade which has details in the lower part still visible, which can match......

Re: Another new (?) emblem

If an He 111, then how about the drawing below the claws representing a container or cannister with parachute straps? Many He 111-equipped bomber units were pressed into service in 1944 to drop supply containers to pockets of ground troops cut off behind the lines. If so, then which unit and is this a Staffel emblem or a personal emblem?

Re: Another new (?) emblem

Hi Guys,

Obviously Goran is right; seems to be a He111.
Concerning the "Canister" I see it as a leather mail box with two seals (sort of).
Kurierstaffel??
for example: Kurierstaffel 110 did use He111 following that: http://www.ww2.dk/air/misc/kur110.html

Tschüss, Franck.

Re: Another new (?) emblem

I agree, a cylindrical document case with two wax seals. So a kurier staffel I think.

Re: Another new (?) emblem

I agree, Chris. That's what it looks like to me. Perhaps someone on the LEMB has posted a similar photo but it only consists of an eagle holding "something," which cannot be made out even when enlarged. This one may be a match.

Re: Another new (?) emblem

An odd thought, could this official and formal scroll/pouch have been been painted on to an aircraft that dropped propaganda leaflets for a time?

Re: Another new (?) emblem

Ed,

this emblem was used by the Führerkurierstaffel from 1941 until the end.
