Adolf Dickfeld died

Dear forum member,

According to some sources, German Ace and Oakleaves holder, Adolf Dickfeld passed away on May 17th, 2009 in Dreiech, Hesse, Germany.

Born on Feb 20th, 1910 in Jüterbog, Mark Brandenburg he was awarded with the Ritterkreuz on March 19, 1942 as a Leutnant with the 7./JG52. Two months later, on May 19th, he also received the Eichenlaub to the Ritterkreuz. He was credited with around 136 victories.

Re: Adolf Dickfeld died

I had the confirmation this past week from Wehrmacht-awards.com site. Very sad news indeed. May he rest in peace.

Re: Adolf Dickfeld died

Guys:

Going Slightly OT on Herr Dickfeld; My understanding was that he wrote rather extensively on his very long & interesting life AFTER the war...he alluded to such stuff in his 'Footsteps of the Hunter'-he rendered assistance to a badly wounded French Soldier whom he said he would encounter again after the war but did not elaborate; however it appears only 'Footsteps..' was translated into English;
Anybody know how many books he has written & what they were about?

TiA

Thanks Frank; Sounds like the other three have to do with African Safaris & Sailing-NOTHING to do with the War...
