Who sank French liner MEKNES?

Hi guys

Not aviation-orientated at all, but ..............

I can't seem to find much on the Web about the sinking of the French liner MEKNES, sunk on 24 July 1940 by S-boat attack. The ship was repatriating French officers and men to France.

I believe the S-boat was S-27 but am not sure if the commander was Klug or Buchting. Hopefully some with knowledge can advise me.

Thanks
Brian

Re: Who sank French liner MEKNES?

Brian,

Lots on the sinking of Meknès on French websites. See e.g http://www.lesoubliesdumeknes.fr/mek...?page=naufrage

Torpedo boat S 27 and Klug are mentioned here.

Regards,

Leendert

This incident is also covered in some detail in Lawrence Paterson's Schnellboote: An Operational History
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Schnellboot.../dp/1848320833

I have a copy so PM me if you need any more information than what you already have.

That's very kind of you, Mark

But I believe that I now have all that I require.

Finished reading all the books yet? Ha! Ha!
