Barrage balloon vs aircraft wing.... have picture but it is just an assumption?

So talking to a friend, he mentioned that he was told by a P47 pilot that German soldiers had shot cables into the air in a bid to damage the aircraft during a strafing attack.
I said that given the opportunity of shooting multiple rounds per minute from a gun or firing effectively a harpoon in the air, it should be obvious which they would choose.

He then shared this picture with me to try and clarify his point (yes he knows it isn't a Thunderbolt).

My first thought is this is an RAF pilot who has collided with a Barrage Balloon cable and somehow brought it back with him?

Serrated edges of the wire seem to give it away?

Anyway, I searched for the image but had no luck to verify it.

Here's the image, what are your thoughts please?

There was a PAC system, (Parachute and Cable) system to try to stop low level attacks.

...and this:

By now, the perceived threat of Condors had at last forced the Allies to come up with all sorts of ideas to defend against them, some of them more unusual than others. First was the Holman Projector which used high-pressure steam from the ship's boilers to throw grenades in front of the attacker. Then there was the Type E System (better known as the Parachute and Cable (PAC) Rocket) which used a rocket to fire a 600' cable above the ship and when at the top of its trajectory, a parachute would open under which would be a small bomb
