Unknown P-47 salvaged in lake in bavaria

Hi,

concerning the tread http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=18002 i was trying to answer some questions about some P-47 wrecks. But as usual, a new question appeared:

I was checking the documents of a former salvage company, and found a indication, that in a lake called "Ammersee" in southern bavaria TWO P-47 have been salvaged around 1951.

Until yesterday, i was sure only one crashed in the lake and was salvaged:
P-47 Serial 42-26718
12 July 1945. Combat training
Crew/unit: Fred B. Schwartz,522FS 27FG KIA.
Buried after salvage in WC Luxembourg
http://www.u-air.info/www/uair/uair....9?OpenDocument

But it's almost sure, a second one was salvaged from the same lake.
I found 2 pictures of a salvaged P-47 showing 99% the second salvaged P-47, but the image quality is very bad. I can't get any info from the pictures, to proceed in identifying the AC. See attached pictures.
It seems to be almost sure, that this P-47 picture doesn't show the P-47 of Fred B. Schwartz, although i can't eliminate for sure the possiblity, because of the bad quality of the picture. After all, the pictures have been on different pages of the reaserch divers photo album. And in a document of another diver of the same salvage company it is mentioned, that they have salvaged 2 P-47 in the Ammersee.

As i'm not so specialized in P-47, i hope one of you may be able to identify some special and helpfull details on the pictures. Either to assign all pictures to one aircraft or other details like special version of P-47 ......
(To compare the 2 pictures of the unknown Thunderbolt with the known P-47 please see the pictures on the website, use the link above.)

In addition, we have no loss information for a second P-47 in this lake. In US sources like MACR or Accident reports the location should be mentioned as "Ammer lake" or "Lake Ammer", in german "Ammersee".

I assume that there is maybe a P-47 missing without any precise position like "southwest of munich" or "Munich area". Or maybe a french P-47??

Does anybody have information about a "missing" P-47 in southern bavaria, area south of munich, alp mountains?

Any help very much appreciated.

Best regards

only that it is between a D-25 and D-30 (probably) model which is a big range.

Hi Mark,
thanks for info. On the picture it seems, that the part from engine until the cockpit section was painted in a darker color. Any ideas?

Regards

Lino

Not painted, just think it is a missing panel.
