Fw. Alfred Reimers (Schlacht Geschwader)

Hi all,

Does anyone have any info on Fw. Alfred Reimers? He is listed in numerous sources as being awarded the German Cross in Gold with a Schlacht-Geschwader on 01.01.1945....this is a default date when unit and actual date is not known, however apparently he was awarded it 10.7.1944...but with what unit?

I would imagine it is the same Fw. Alfred Reimers who was serving with 8 (Pz.)/Schlacht Geschwader 1 mid 1943, however I can not confirm that at the moment. I have a combat report with his signature, along with Oblt. Rudolf-Heinz Ruffer RKT and Hans-Hermann Steinkamp RKT from 26.5.1943 regarding the destruction of 10 Russian tanks.

Regards,
Ian

Ian,
Oblt. Rudolf-Heinz Ruffer 10.(Pz)/SG 9 was KIA 44-07-16 in Russia (Kovel-Lemberg).
That was only 6 days after Reimers was awarded. I assume that Reimers belonged to 10.(Pz)/SG 9.

Re: Fw. Alfred Reimers (Schlacht Geschwader)

Hi Frans,

Yes....if he stayed with the same unit. 8 (Pz)/Schl.G 1 became 11 (Pz)/SG9 on 18.10.43. From there it became Erprobungskommando 26 in January 1944, so he could well have transferred to 10 or 14 Staffel.

The combat report actually belongs to Uffz. Alfred Rühlemann, the three signatures bear witness and authorise the combat.....incidentally I don't know much about Rühlemann either.

From Larry's Officer career lists:
