Info on Do215 B-5 coded R4+SN in 5./NJG2?

Dear all,

Who can confirm that a Do215 B-5 coded R4+SN served with 5./NJG2, that it was equipped with both Kauz III and Lichtenstein A/I, and can also confirm that this was a regular mount of Ofw. Paul Gildner in 1942? Did he achieve any victories in this particular a/c?

Cheers and thanks for any info!

Theo

Re: Info on Do215 B-5 coded R4+SN in 5./NJG2?

Hi, Theo.
Owl Decals has R4+SN as the aircraft flown by Paul Gildner, but I'm not aware of their source(s). Maybe someone can shed a light on this..? Claes Sundin also has a profile which mentions Paul Gildner as (one of) the pilot(s) of R4+SN...
So if someone has any info on the combination of R4+SN and the name of Paul Gildner this would be much appreciated...
With kind regards,
Piet

Picking up this interesting thread, has anyone been able to confirm that R4+SN is Gildner's mount - or is it just invented by one of the plastic modell companies requiring an aircraft to profile on the box and with decals?

Dear Pete63,

OWL never offered decals for Do215 B-5 with VKZ R4+SN. This marking is directly on the ICM Do215 B-5 in both 1/72 and 1/48 scale. The company actually assigned this aircraft to Paul Gildner and added the kill symbols to the rudder, which are probably not there at all.

Owl decals offers these Do215 B-5

G9+NM Gildner
G9+MM
G9+AD von Graeve
G9+KM Fellerer
R4+DC
R4+AP Becker
