Heinkel He 111 H-4 Werknummerserien?

Gents,

Can anyone advise me of the Werknummerserien for the Heinkel He 111 H-4 produced by Heinkel-Oranienburg and ATG-Leipzig? From several posts on this website information is that the H-4s produced by Arado-Brandenburg fall into the small 3361-3364+ group though there should be more H-4 machines from this manufacturer. But for the previous two there are no data.

I ask as from time to time come across photos of He 111 Hs with Werknummern in the 28xx, 29xx and 30xx series that fall outside these groups known for the P-2. In most cases the photo is just of the tail thus other attributes that could identify the aircraft are not visible. By process of elimination I suspect that these ‘rogue’ Werknummern are for the H-4s and would appreciate any additional information.

Cheers,

David

3211 - 3243 ( 33) He 111 H-4 He Rostock
3259 - 3294 ( 36) He 111 H-4 He Rostock
6953 - 7000 ( 48) He 111 H-4 ATG Leipzig

Old notes,I think some that is forgotten.

According to Volker Koos the remaining source material is divided and can be interpreted both ways.

He himself choose to bring all of them under the H-3 umbrella in his production list.

Re: Heinkel He 111 H-4 Werknummerserien?

Gents,

Thanks for your information.

I went through the available GQM NVM listings and from 1940-1945 and identified about 100 machines listed as He 111 H-4s with 87 aircraft also having their Werknummer indicated and falling within the following groups (brackets indicate the number of identified H-4s in the group):

WNr.2705 – 3092 (5)
WNr.3205 – 3318 (41) Interspersed with H-3 aircraft at Arado-Brandenburg?
WNr.5962 – 5711 (11)
WNr.6179 (1)
WNr.6914 – 6998 (22) Interspersed with H-3 aircraft at Heinkel-Oranienburg?
WNr.7032 (1)
WNr.8747 (1)

I can’t recall the source but I have about 150 H-4s being produced in 1940-1941. From the above it appears that H-4s were produced concurrently with H-3s with Werknummern intermixed.

Best,

David

Re: Heinkel He 111 H-4 Werknummerserien?

From "Übersichtslisten der Änderungsanweisungen" from Heinkel, Rostock dated 1. April 1942, the following Werk-Nummer are given:
Heinkel-Werke Oranienburg: 6947, 6948, 6951, 6953-7000.
Arado: 3211,3213,3214,3216,3217, 3219-3231, 3233-3244, 3256, 3259-3294, 3304 and 3311.
These are by no means the complete list but it does not indicate any H-4 deliveries from Heinkel Rostock or ATG.
These documents are available from Deutsches Museum, München.
