Italian IMAM Ro.37 Bi-Plane Serial 1459

Hello,

An Australian soldier removed the control grip of Italian bi-plane IMAM Ro.37 Serial (M.M.) 01459.

Does anybody have information about where this aircraft was captured?

Thanks!

Roger

Re: Italian IMAM Ro.37 Bi-Plane Serial 1459

Ro.37 serial were in the ranges 10xxx and 11xxx, the lowest serial being 10566, so 01459 is probably a part number.

Best

Hi Gianandrea,

Thank you for the info regarding the serial number range. It could be that the first 2 digits were confused and instead of 01459 it is 10459.

Here is the info I got regarding the data on the grip:

M01459
RO 37
TIPO E

What is Tipo E referring to? To a certain production block? As far as I know, there was no Ro 37E.

Best regards,

Roger

PS: Just got the 01459 confirmed by a photo. The full info on the grip is as follows:

M 01459
RO37
TIPO E

Maybe M 01459 was indeed the serial number of the grip itself.

Roger
