Not according to Frank Olynyk. Some more info on this chap such as a rank and units might help your question?

Re: Harley Vaugh - P-38 - Europe
Good afternoon Chris,
typos in my initial posts. I meant to ask: Has Harley C Vaughn of the 82nd FG scored his seven kills over Europe or over Africa ? Have a nice Thursday evening, sincerely, Michael |

Re: Harley Vaugh - P-38 - Europe
Good morning Alex,
I think Claude Kinsey is the top P-38 ace over Africa having scored 7 kills over that continent. Now I try to identify the joint top aces. I narrowed the group to three canditates: Harley Vaughn, Meldrum Sears and Walter Carroll. Has any of them scored over Europe (or Asia) ? Cheers, Michael |

Hi Michael. This is Study 85, USAF credits WW2, you can search by name or theatre.

Re: Harley Vaugh - P-38 - Europe
Good afternoon Nick,
thanks for sharing. I had this item already in my collection. However, it indicates only the theatres not the countries/continents. What I'm trying to do is finding out the top P-38 scorer over the continent of Africa. Have a good start into a pleasant weekend, Michael |

Re: Harley Vaugh - P-38 - Europe
Michael. Carroll's claims were 8, in June-July 1944 so all with the 82nd / 15th AF in Italy.
Do you mean victories with Twelfth AF or just those scored over N. Africa ? The other 3 had all their claims with the Twelfth in Algeria / Tunisia between Jan.--May 1943 so presumably in action over the mainland? The 1FG didn't move to Italy until Dec. and the 82nd in Oct. Nick |

Good evening Gentlemen,
thanks a lot for your posts. OK, I drop Carroll and Vaughn. Could you please have a look if Claude Kinsey and Meldrum Sears scored all of their kills over Tunisia ? Have a good start into the weekend, Michael |
