RAF LNSF - Mosquito Routes to Berlin?

Gentlemen,

the frequent Mosquito raids on Berlin are said to have resulted in three defined approaches to the "big city" that the Mosquitoes of the RAF would use. They are said to have been called "Platform 1" to "Platform 3". Now, I am wondering if anyone has either a map of a set of waypoints that would help to identify these routes... I drew blank on all the resources I tried...

Does anyone have any insights to share?

Andreas

Re: RAF LNSF - Mosquito Routes to Berlin?

Looking at the night bombing raid sheets there are three rough approaches, but some variation involved from raid to raid as to how they reach these approach routes and where the turning points are

1. North of Hamburg then overland and approach Berlin from N or NW

2. Path between Bremen and Hannover and approach Berlin from W

3. Path N of Ruhr then east between Magdeburg and Leipzig and the approach Berlin from S

There are variations but these three routes avoid flying over major towns en-route

Regards

Martin
