Information concerning loss of Fledwebel Emil Markl - Russia - 22.06.1941
Hi,
Could anyone provide details of the loss of Feldwebel EMil Markl who was killed on the first day of the attack on Russia on the 22nd June 1941? His sterbebild says he was lost over Schaulen in the East. He was an experienced member of the Luftwaffe with awards including an Iron Cross 1st class and a frontflier's badge in Bronze. Thanks Rick |

Re: Information concerning loss of Fledwebel Emil Markl - Russia - 22.06.1941
Hi Matti, this a/c appears again in the loss lists for 19.7.41, this time as 100% Ju88A-5 W.Nr2277. F1+EP.
A/c destroyed due to enemy fire and abandoned nr Filowu-Gora, the crew baled out safely so not named in GQM6 lists! Presumably recovered and repaired? Best regs, Steve. |

Re: Information concerning loss of Fledwebel Emil Markl - Russia - 22.06.1941
I understand NVM info in this case so, that an enemy fighter shot the aircraft near Schaulen and the aircraft returned to the base with killed Fw Märkl.
Bigger problem is, that I have the same WNr. destroyed already 1941-03-20 (5./KG 51). Matti |

Re: Information concerning loss of Fledwebel Emil Markl - Russia - 22.06.1941
I have the same as Matti minus the details for the Märkl KIA where I had the casualty but no machine. Stands to reason that the March loss must be in error. SKZ for WNr. 2277 should be DH+OM.
