Re: claim Lt. Brandenberger 12/13 February 1944

@Retje, indeed, at the address a Michael and a Georg (his father) Bogensperger were registered. It seems the cause for the mistake are clerical errors on the Gräberkarteikarte. The NVM is pretty clear and as the details would have been copied from the Wehrpass or Soldbuch or EM-Listen it should be clear. Sometimes clerical errors put you on the wrong foot.

@Marcel, Theo gives a source for the claim in his diary. Might be worthwhile to check?

Re: claim Lt. Brandenberger 12/13 February 1944

Not exactly clear who it could have been in the Mosquito

105 Sqn 8 to Elberfeld 18:33-22:11 hrs
109 Sqn 4 to Hamborn 18:50-22:00 hrs
141 Sqn 2 Patrols 19:35-22:10 hrs Hamborn-Wuppertal
169 Sqn 1 Patrol 19:30-22:00 hrs Holland-NW Germany

418 Sqn 5 Intruders - Rosieres 0/1, Cambrai 1, Biscarosse 1, Mont de Marsan 1, Bordeaux 1 20:29 to 04:05 hrs
605 Sqn 2 Intruders - Chievres and Lille 21:00-23:05 hrs

No one reports being molested in any way, apart from inaccurate flak

Martin

Re: claim Lt. Brandenberger 12/13 February 1944

Hello guys,

John: I checked Theo's NCA-book, but he only mentions the KTB I.Jagdkorps (which I also checked), it does not reveal the name of Bogensperger nor III./NJG 1. I will contact Theo to clarify this (and his) reference.

Martin: thank you for checking, I only had the ORB of 109 and 141 Squadron at hand

To be continued... Best regards, Marcel
