Need help in finding US State of deceased veteran

This is kind of an unusual request. The man I am looking at was Eugene Day, born July 15, 1924 and died in Largo, Florida in October 10, October 10, 2003. He was a photogrammetrist and a co-worker of my Father. Both worked for IAGS (Inter American Geodetic Survey) in Panama and other South American countries. In the 1960s, there were many WWII veterans working for the organization. During the 1960s, I asked my father if there were other WWII vets who worked with him. Among the ones he mentioned was "Day" who flew unarmed photo A/C during the war. Many years later, now that I'm retired, I decided to find out more information about Eugene Day. As far as i can tell, he had no middle name. I'm trying to access the 1930 US census, but I need to have the state he was born or lived in to complete the query. I did find another Gene Day who served in the USAAF, but he was born on a different date. Can anyone help?

Those records would be with the Department of Defense. The date of birth is the key item. As far as the 1930 census, here is a link:

Thanks Ed! I signed up for the 1930 Census and have obtained two possible candidates.

Thank you Laurent! I used to have a Fold3 paid account but haven't had a subscription in years.
Now my next objective is to discover his military record. Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Re: Need help in finding US State of deceased veteran

Eugene Day served in the 81st Naval Construction Battalion. His service number was 8172672. The battalion served first in Scotland, England and France the went to the Pacific (Hawaii, Okinawa and Guam). He ended serving in the 5th Naval Construction Brigade on Guam. So it appears he was a Seabee.

The above comes from his PA Veterans Bonus Request papers found on Ancestry.com. I can send them to you if you PM me your email address.

For those with Ancestry Access, here: https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer...075&pId=952840

Some history on the unit: https://www.history.navy.mil/content.../081%20NCB.pdf

Also found him listed at the Construction Battalion Training Center at Camp Peary from January 31, 1943 (see line 24).

He enter the Navy on January 29, 1943.
