Can anyone tell what the NVM and GQM sources are? Are they available for research?
(a) I think it was German-only.

(b) NVM (= Namentliche Verlustmeldung) is a report on the loss of personnel. These are held at the Deutsche Dienststelle in Berlin but are protected by German privacy laws and open only to relatives. Some researchers do manage to overcome that restriction but I'm not clear how.

GQM are aircraft loss/damage reports to the General Quartermaster. The ones from 1944 are missing since the war but the rest are at the Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv in Freiburg, or there are microfilm copies at the Imperial War Museum in London. Doubtless one of our American members can advise if there are copies in a US archive.
