Brazilian P-47D wreck (Gothic Line, Italy)

I've identified the gun camera (AN-N6) and the access door for it, but I've also other items from the right wing, I suppose... Or not? Well, here some photos: can You help me? Thank You in advance...

Re: Brazilian P-47D wreck (Gothic Line, Italy)

Hello mazwork,
Not an expert on P-47 parts but your mystery relic from the Brazilian crash looks like it could be part of the engine. The aluminum casting may be a rocker arm cover for one of the cylinder valves on an R-2800. The rusty piece does resemble a rocker arm. Do you have any more info on the crash, name of pilot, etc? Many thanks for sharing.
Bob

Re: Brazilian P-47D wreck (Gothic Line, Italy)

I'll check for it, but I think that the pieces were found near the gun camera. Note a black sheet of metal with it. Tomorrow I'll share more... The new search should be more scientific, mapping the terrain with care and a lot of photo reference, in order to understand much more...

Thank you

Gianluca

Hello Mazwork,
Please do have a look on a previous thread posted here on TOCH. I enclosed some pictures of this camera you do believe is from a 1º GavCa's P-47 D.

Hope you will find the "match". If you do need assistance to cross-check the Brazilian's Thunderbolts serial numbers feel free.
All the best

350th FG Remembered is correct, your pictures show the top of a cylinder with a rocker arm. The black sheetmetal is part of a cooling baffle.

Dear Adriano,
you are talking about a K-25 camera, not a AN-N6, a totally different item... I'll post in the next days new photos from the wreck...

Ciao, Gianluca
