FB Entry

Hi all,

This is an entry from a FB from April 1943. I can read the following:
Auftrag: Flak und K.F.Z. bei
??????. Bomben im Ziel
Brände wurde beobachtet.
Beladung: 4xSC250

The place that was attacked is a mystery to me. Can anyone tell me what place in Tunesia it is?

Thanks in advance,
Rudi

Rottler will become famous soon enough
Re: FB Entry

It started with an J, compare with the F of Flak.

KG 54 during operations in the Med, most likely Tunesia.

Re: FB Entry

The second letter is an r and the third looks like it's an n or an e so it should be something like Jrnaga or Jreaga. Can't find anything on either of these.

Re: FB Entry

Could the "J" be substituted for an "I", as the Germans sometimes did?

Re: FB Entry

Rudi as this is a FB extract is the date not given , the KG 54 book Ian mentions contains targets by date so should be easy to find with the date . Is the missing location the target could it read Flak over the front line zone by ?????? then bombed on target ?

The date was April 10th 1943. I have already checked Radtke's book on KG54. He gives for that date: "Morgens & abends Agriffe Raum S. Kairouan + Seeauklärung Dreieck Tunis - Sardinien - Pantelleria"
(In the morning & the evening: attacks in the area south of Kairouan + maritime reconnaissance in the triangle Tunis, Sardinia & Pantelleria)

The KG 54 loss list in that book gives Uffz Müller lost at sea in the Kairouan area in his Ju 88 B3-BH that day.

The same Leistungsbuch where this extract is coming from gives in the morning the following flight:
"Ziele bei Fonduk "
(Targets near Fonduk)

I tried Googling for Ireaga and Irnaga but came up empty handed.

I don't think so. As far as I know my German the entry reads:
Mission: Flak & trucks near
?????. Bombs on target.
Fires were seen at the scene.
