eBay Fürth, JG104. Really ?

Hi Gents,
This photo captioned JFS104 by our friend mcflly41.
... BUT:
Isn't it a French Potez in the background ?
If so, what was doing a Potez at Fürth Spring 1943.
Maybe it is not Fürth neither "JFS104" (sic) after all.
Regards,
Franck.

Re: eBay Fürth, JG104. Really ?

You certainly know that after the German invasion of France in June 1940 the Luftwaffe seized hundreds of French aircraft of all kinds including the types with the highest production numbers: Potez 63xxx, i.e. Potez 630 and 631 fighters, Potez 637 recce AC and the very numerous Potez 63.11 recce AC, all together over 1,700 aircraft built. In particular 63.11s were widely used by the LW for training purposes and more (probably as liaison AC, hacks etc.). I'm not an expert on this. When German forces invaded the "non-occupied" southern zone of France (Vichy territory) in November 1942 they seized whatever aircraft were left including, again, many Potez 63xxx.

So it is hardly surprising to see French and German AC (here a 109) on the same airfield. It could be anywhere in Europe… including France. Airfield hangars existed in numerous different designs, most of them typical and easily recognizable. There are some very good hangar experts around (in France too) but I'm not one of them. If you absolutely must know where this picture was shot you could ask hangar experts to help you.

PS: I forgot to mention the Potez 633 light bombers.

It is more likely to be a Potez 63-11 - not only captured ones used (at least 80 from the stocks at Meaulte plant) but another 120 aircraft completed under German control
