Re: Photo Spad

Hello Bertrand,

Really a seperate subject I suppose, but on the page for Escadrille 87 :

http://albindenis.free.fr/Site_escad...adrille087.htm

There is a photo of shotdown Albatros C.XII (Bay) C.1851 which the site attributes to FA 16. Interestingly Peter M Grosz in WDF 129 Albatros C.XII vol.2 P.24 has the same machine with the same crew and shot down by Ruamps of N 87 as flown by FA 46b. Possibly the info on Albindenis reflects later information. Is there any further information from the french side, you're aware of, which would support the case for the machine being from FA 16?

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photo Spad

Hi CLint

I have never understood why the Italians did not mark their SPADS as they did their other aircraft.
In WDF 155 I cannot locate a single SPAD marked in the "normal" Italian way.

If Alegi and Variable are to be believed what we are looking at is actually an Italian serial, applied in exactly the same way as the French did. So far 4700 to 4707 have been identified in that range.

Cheers
Stig
