Death cards were meant to represent the name under which the person was known by friends and family and maybe also by his squadron mates. Those names can be quite different to the official names in church records or other "official" sources.
My grandfather - the wartime generation - e.g. was baptised as Friedrich (Fritz) but everybody knew him as Otto. I knew him under no other name and this was regarded as official name. You may just guess what would have been written in the respective documents if he had fallen in WWII...
