Bf 109G-6 to Spain

In a letter dated 13. June 1944 to the Jägerstab/RLM it is mentioned that a total of 15 Bf 109G-6 from the Messerschmitt production line in Regensburg are reserved for delivery to Spain. This batch consisted of W.Nr. 163014 to W.Nr. 163023 and W.Nr. 163554 to W.Nr. 163558.

Can anyone confirm if they really was delivered or held back for use by the Luftwaffe.

Re: Bf 109G-6 to Spain

Very interesting. I have contradictory notes from documents saying that
- 10 Bf 109G-6s were planned for delivery 1943-1944, not delivered
- 15 Bf 109Gs without engines, armament and radio were delivered February 1944
- 15 Baugruppen Bf 109s were delivered January 1945

You document must have something to do with this.

Re: Bf 109G-6 to Spain

Thank for your response so far.

In addition to my first post, the following is extracted from a telex message dated 19.04.1944 to OKL, Gen.Qu. 6.Abt.

Since about two weeks the following five Bf 109G-6 aircraft has been standing unattended, three W.Nr. 163005, 163006 and 162737 at the airfield in Biaritz, with a further two W.Nr. 160003 and 160004, at the airfield at Bergbrac (??).

These aircraft are destined for delivery to Spain. Please give instructions what to do. Fighter aircraft with engines not regulary run will soon become u/s and they are also parked in the open as easy targets for enemy aircraft.
Signed Kommodore 4. Erg.Jagdgeschwader.

Can anyone expand on this. All these planes were to be delivered without armament and radio eqipment.

Bergbrac is probably Bergerac/FR (44°49'27.4"N 0°30'41.5"E).

Re: Bf 109G-6 to Spain

The info provided by Lennart is 100% correct.

If I recall correctly, the planes that were delivered were G2 (not G6)...and the reason the engines did not make it, is because the train carrying them was a staffed by the allies, and all were destroyed enroute.

There seems to be a lot of non-documented "information" flying around. If you
do make a posting, can you please make some reference to the origin of your comment rather than "I believe" something.

Thanks to all so far.

Re: Bf 109G-6 to Spain

From BAMA 689 to 693 , docs deal with del. of material to Spain, hv a lot to say , all G-6, forcast already in nov.43 to deliver for Spain for free, from Regensburger production 160851 to 160855 n 161056 to 161060 probably not made, nd from april to summer 44, some notes about the delivery of 163014 to 163023 nd 163554 to 163558, seems some planes were travelling in France already, delivered ?? I could send you the docs SP
