Re: Two Caudrons to Identify

Thanks Stéphane

At least it shows No 02 as captured.
I cannot pinpoint the background so cannot say if we are at Biarritz or Orléans-Bricy.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Two Caudrons to Identify

You're welcome, Stig

Actually, Potez 540 n° 40 matricule X-114 has been abandonned at Orléans-Bricy.

I have another picture, found on ebay. From right to left, parked between hangar No 1 & No 2 at Orléans-Bricy :

- Potez 540 No 40, abandonned at Orléans-Bricy
- Caudron 870 No 02
- Caudron 760, abandonned at Orléans-bricy
- Leo 451 No 21, abandonned at Orléans-Bricy
- Possibly Caudron 710 nc 7871, abandonned at Orléans-Bricy
- Bloch 210 No 186 abandonned at Orléans-Bricy
- C.690M

Re: Two Caudrons to Identify

Thanks again Stéphane

Looks very convincing. Perhaps the French books mean the aircraft was flown to Biarritz by the Germans?

Kaiyan

Good point. The impressment serial X8506 was most likely never carried by the aircraft and would fit what we can see, a registration beginning with G-A.

Amazing how much information that can be put together once a little pressure is put on various individuals.

Thanks again Guys
Cheers
Stig

Re: Two Caudrons to Identify

Kaiyan,

Thanks for sharing that great photo of G-AFEO. It very nicely clarifies the markings and condition of the aircraft.

Can anyone state the exact date Orleans-Bricy was occupied by the Germans ?

Regards,

Martin Gleeson.

Re: Two Caudrons to Identify

Orléans-Bricy has been occupied by the germans on 17 june.

I think the second half of june 1940 was a very disrupted and confused time, especially about the fate of many french aircrafts abandonned or evacuated from french airfields.
