Poles in 56th Fighter Group USAAF
How many sorties (individually) did Major "Olek" A.K. Gabszewicz and Captain T. Sawicz fly with 56th Fighter Group? Gabszewicz was possibly only with the group in February 1944 but Sawicz served longer I believe.

There appears to have been a section in the 61st FS composed of several pilots including Gladych, Lanowski, Sawicz and Gabszewicz.

Gladych and Lanowski were successful but it seems their success was after the flight disbanded and they joined the 56th FG.

Also can anyone identify the P47D flown by Gabszewicz?

Olek is short for Aleksander.

Operational missions:
Gabszewicz flew three: 8th, 10th and 11th February 1944.
Sawicz flew fourteen: 30th April, 1st, 21st, 22nd, 24th 25th, 27th 28, 29th 30th and 31st May; then 3rd, 4th and 8th June 1944.

On 8th February, Gabszewicz flew HV-Cbar (serial currently unknown) as White three. On 10th and 11th he flew 42-75231 HV-Rbar as White three and Red three respectively.
