Re: Soviet aircraft and their top aces

Hello Gabor,

yes, presumably he died broken-hearted.
But what should he have done ?
Sent a MiG-29 for a one-versus-one dogfight ? ;-)

Have a very nice weekend,

Michael

Re: Soviet aircraft and their top aces

Good morning,

by courtesy of Alexandr Abramov and Mikhail Bykov I learned that NO ace scored 5 personal kills in the Polikarpov I-15bis. The most successful Polikarpov I-15bis pilot was Georgii Agafonov with 4 kills in that type.

Re: Soviet aircraft and their top aces

Good morning,

so many Soviet aces scored at least 25 kills in a La-5 or a P-39. The top Yak-1, Yak-7 and Yak-9 aces have scored more than 25 kills in these types, respectively. Why did nobody achieve that in a Yak-9, which was the most-produced Soviet WW2 fighter ?

Kind regards,

Michael
