KG2 1942

Does anyone have details of the operational flights undertaken by any/all of the following on 3 August 1942: Oblt. Rudolf Graf Thun-Hohenstein, 7./KG2; Lt Ernst Andres, 5./KG2; Oblt Hans Wanka, 9./KG2; Oblt Hans Wolff, 6./KG2; Fw Franz Elias, 7./KG2 ?

I was in touch with the familes of Graf Thun Hohenstein & Wolff; I wrote to Wanka but he did not reply. I have copies of the Flugbuch of one of Hohenstein's crew

Re: KG2 1942

I had also looked at a KG 40 Flugbuch and another from KG 2 but nothing. However, for Hohenstein:

U5+DR. Deelen-Deelen 1620-1920. Attack on airfield near Doncaster. I cannot read after that but there is mention of a Spitfire so the question is asked, were there any inconclusive combats with Spitfires that day?

Re: KG2 1942

Chris, thanks for looking. The airfield would be Finningley, I guess. However, the time tells me that U5+DR was not part of the 'visit' I am particularly interested in.

Re: KG2 1942

Was there an attack on Finningley and who was airborne to intercept? Do the times match as it could indicate with Geschwader or Gruppe was about Middlesborough?
