Do18s lost Norway 17 April 1940

Hi guys

I am in need of more help from the experts, please!

On 17 April 1940, Skuas claimed a Do18 'badly damaged' at 1340 hrs, then at 1533, Skuas shot down a Do18 of 1/406. I note that three Do18s were lost on this date but the other two are recorded as accidents. Any suggestions for the 'badly damaged' aircraft?

The aircraft from 1/406 (K6+FH) that was shot down apparently included in its crew Lts z.See Keil and Wedge. Is this correct? Who were the other members of the crew, all of whom were lost?

Once again, any help would be appreciated.

Cheers
Brian

Re: Do18s lost Norway 17 April 1940

On 17.04.1940 the Do 18D-3 W.Nr. 836 (delivered from Weser in January 1939) of 1./406 (K6+FH) was damaged in combat with a Skua from No. 801 Sq. FAA. The aircraft tried to make a forced landing in open sea but crashed killing all four on board. The location was reported as Pl.Qu. 2757. It was in the North Sea not far from HMS "Suffolk".
Lt.z.See Max Keil (B) killed
Fw. Karl Petersen (F) killed
Fk.Obgefr. Werner Merg (Hilfs-Beob.) killed
Uffz. Jacob Ims (Bm) killed

Thanks once again Seaplanes.

Obviously no information on the earlier claim. But could this have been M2+KK?

Cheers

Does Pl.Qu. 2757 place the Do.18 NE of the Orkney Islands or E of Dundee?
